The Woman Who Saved 2,500 Jewish Children From the Nazis
Irena Sendler, a woman who risked her life saving 2,500 Jewish children from the gas chambers died yesterday aged 98. Records show that her team of some 20 people saved nearly 2,500 children from the Warsaw Ghetto between October 1940 and April 1943, when the Nazis burned the ghetto, shooting the residents or sending them to death camps.
