iFilm’s feed added to video

Thursday, February 15th, 2007

As our friends asked us, we’ve added iFilm’s videos to web 2.0 announcer’s video section.

iFilm is not using tags to categorize their videos, so we automatically fill those videos under the Video and iFilm tags.

Soon more to come, so stay tuned :)

Web 2.0 Announcer Video

Wednesday, January 17th, 2007

As our site gains more and more attention we thought to add something that people will really like :)

This is our new feature which can’t be something else besides video.

The video module is totally different than the rest of the site, has it’s own tag system and it is still under development.

For the moment we are displaying the top videos from youTube but soon we will add more sources.

As the video project is still in development phase, there may be bugs so please inform us if you find something strange.

Web 2.0 Announcer Press Release

Tuesday, September 26th, 2006

New Website Brings Top News in One Place.

(PRLEAP.COM) Thessaloniki, Greece September 26, 2006 – HumanWorks, owner of the award-winning
Webdigity Webmaster Forum is pleased to announce the launch of their
newest website Web 2.0 Announcer. Web 2.0 Announcer is a news resource
that provides a list of the most current and talked about news stories
on the web.

The Internet has made it easier than ever to share information.
Unfortunately, newsworthy information is scattered across an
ever-growing multitude of websites. A quick search on Google for the
word news yielded close to 11 billion results. Web 2.0 Announcer, with
its uncluttered and no-frills layout, provides site visitors quick
access to complete news stories from a variety of sources across the
Internet.

“Our original intention when creating this site was to make a resource
for bloggers, but in the short time since we’ve launched it has become
much more than that,” states Nikolas Papanotas, founder of HumanWorks
and lead programmer. “The site is such a time-saving resource that
many visitors are returning daily and using the site as their primary
news source.”

Web 2.0 Announcer provides a list of the top stories from major social
and technology news outlets on the web. By combining news stories from
such highly-regarded sites as C-Net News and many of the wildly
successful social driven websites like Digg, YahooMyWeb and Furl; Web
2.0 Announcer
provides only the most current and talked about news
stories on the World Wide Web. The site already gathers news stories
from a dozen such sources and will be continually adding more.

Web 2.0 Announcer Buzz

Sunday, September 24th, 2006

As the sources continue to grow, and the dailly ammount of news is getting bigger and bigger, I thought to create a system that will help you to see the top stories from each source in a seperate form.

That new feauture is called Web 2.0 Announcer’s Buzz, and you can reach at http://web2announcer.com/buzz/

Also it works with tags, so if for example you want to see the top news regarding php you can go to http://php.web2announcer.com/buzz/

2 feeds added

Saturday, September 23rd, 2006

Thanks to your feedback we added two more feeds to the web 2.0 announcer service.

I am talking about the feeds of web 2.0 list and topix.

In case you would like to see news from another site in web 2.0 announcer, feel free to post here.

Soon we will add more feeds too :)

Web 2.0 Announcer plugin for wordpress

Friday, September 22nd, 2006

Just finished with the web 2.0 announcer plugin for wordpress.

This small app will add web2announcer’s top tags (in a tag cloud form) in your blog’s sidebar.

You can see an example of the plugin in this blog (see the ‘Web 2.0 announcer top tags’ section in the sidebar)

If you want to try it download it from here, and see the instructions. The plugin is designed for people that have no web design skills, so don’t be afraid to use it if you are not a technical person :)

If you have any feedback/issues, feel free to post a comment here.

Dealing with social bookmark spammers

Friday, September 22nd, 2006

It seems that even the big social bookmarks/news services can’t deal with spam…

Today I saw a lot of spam entries mostly from del.icio.us and that makes me a little nerve.

So we have just added some filters and we hope in the next few days or week they will be able to make web 2.0 announcer a spam free resource :)

In addition this new module will help prevent topic duplicates (from stories that covered in multiple sources)

Second development phase starts

Wednesday, September 20th, 2006

After about 20 days of a ‘real mode’ test, and the correction of several bugs, we are starting the second development phase of web 2.0 announcer.

Some of the plans are to add some extra feautures for webmasters, and propably an API which will help developers to integrate their apps with web 2.0 announcer.

If you have any ideas, please post a comment. Feedback is allways welcome :)
